Françe Bee is a DJ, music philosopher, and vinyl historian keeping funk alive.

Françe Bee is an active member of the Inland Empire vinyl community, performed for Hyatt and Marriot boutique hotels with RedLight Vinyl, created Vinyl Bingo, hosts Electromagnetic Radio on Sundays, and writes about all of it in France Frequency. Find her in real life at The Overland on Wednesdays.

The Gist

Françe Bee is known for treating the dance floor as a lecture hall and the crate dig as a form of historical research.

She is the creator of Vinyl Bingo, a game in which she spins live from the turntables while the crowd plays bingo cards she designed and curated to match the set. Trained as a teacher, she now uses her turntables as a chalkboard, applying funk and philosophy in her blog in ways that would make George Clinton, and the humanities department, proud. Her Instagram Reels series applies the same approach in short-form video.

A retired cloud engineer, she remains fully operational as a DJ, appearing weekly and showing no signs of downtime.

Bio

Françe Bee was born and raised in the Inland Empire, where funk runs in the family and record collecting started early. What began as a personal habit of hunting down vinyl turned into a nearly two decade-long relationship with the format, first as a collector, then as a DJ translating that collection into sets.

Before music took over, she spent nearly nine years in cloud engineering. She stepped away from that career in search of something more alive, trading server uptime for turntables and never looked back. Passion is passion. She was crazy enough to DJ five days before giving birth to prove it.

Bee built a career on the belief that funk isn't jjust a genre but a way of thinking. That philosophy shows up everywhere: in her Wednesday residency at The Overland, her Sunday show on Electromagnetic Radio, and her writing on Substack France Frequency. She's shared decks with Black Girls Love Vinyl, been on air at KCHUNG, and played rooms including the Freehand Hotel, Hotel Per La, Gold Line Bar, Partnership for Growth LA, W. Wolfskill, and Farmhouse Collective. She splits her time between the Inland Empire and Los Angeles so see what Bee can do for you!
